I wanted to hear the story of how you started playing for 30 BB.
One problem with buying in for the minimum or close to it is it screams to everyone at the table NEWBIE. Just something to keep in mind.
First off, I'm a consistent winning 6max cash player. I consider myself within the top 5 percent of the player pool. I disagree about NOT buying in for 100 bbs. You don't want to be perceived as a fish by regulars because they will relentlessly 3bet you, make moves against you, double and triple barrel you… all things that make your life difficult with medium strength hands like 99, AJ, AQ, KQ, etc. I prefer being perceived as good because more of your bluffs get through, you get 3bet pre less, and your steals are more successful. Sure, with the premiums like jacks plus this would be beneficial, but those occasions are less often. The only case this works is a strategy I use: I like to start 6max tables by sitting down with a minimum buy in. This attracts fish… you may attract 2 – 4 fishy shortstackers and then a reg or two will arrive and sit down with 100 bbs. At this point, the fish are at the table, so I top up 100 bbs. Then I instantly start a new table same technique. Once this table fills, I repeat until I have about 6 new fishy tables. Of course, I'm very confident and capable with my hu game, so I wouldn't recommend trying this unless you're good hu. Starting new tables increases your chances of catching some fish. Getting into a 5 handed table often times is full of all regs.
assuming a player buys in for say 80 big blinds doesn`t scream anything; if you are a good player offline, then your playing short stack, in fact any amount you buy in with can be considered as a short stack. I`v seem 40 min buy ins turn into thousands within hours, don`t follow leaders be a leader.
Being this video is four or five years old I think we can give it some grace and say it's not so bad based on the time it was published
I've been playing for 11 years and I know a lot of this but I always go back for Refreshers. Poker is a lot like jujitsu. Some of the best use fundamentals that they perfected and do not stray. Good video you got a sub by me
very good
What is considered short term or long term? What if I am result oriented to assess my skill?
Start at 3 min
You don't sound arrogant Jim, great simple video, thanks so much.
