Poker Strategy Info And Source:

In this hand we call flop with middle pair and a backdoor and hit the dream turn card. We decided to raise our hand as a bluff. What sizing is best and do we have to call a shove?

  1. i like what you said about getting more fold equity on the turn by betting bigger…good concept. as always, good stuff, thanks for your efforts, Bart! 🙂

  2. Villiian did exactly what he was supposed to do keep betting the best hand small enough to price in draws and weaker pairs but then when all the draws get even better on the turn charge them to stay in or pressure them to fold
Just not sure committing to playing from stacks when you are almost certainly behind and are about 25% to win (maybe better now that a 9 and an 8 are good) and you need to be good 29% of the time is a winner…I don't have numbers engine but I think that's close maybe slight off and there is a super slight edge in getting it in but just seems really marginal spot to play for stacks. His range was so polarized and you were behind almost every time here and being so close not sure at the table you can run the numbers when to figure it out in the moment which for me means fold

  3. “Are you an older guy?” LOL I would have never thought the caller was mid-20s either

  5. Bart – I’ve watched many of these, and I can’t remember a time when you said “Perfect raise size” or “perfect play” across an entire hand. You say OK a lot and usually have a lot of comments, but it seems you always disagree with at least a part of how the hand is played.

My question: am I understanding correctly that you very seldom think the callers play the hand right, or is it just a function of you expressing personal style and preferences during the calls? This isn’t meant to be a smart ass or negative question/comment in any way.
