4. Mostly luck, but, remember one thing, no matter what u have, if u bust, it makes NO difference what dealer has, I am firm believer in letting dealer win or lose even if you have 12 showing. Always split, always double down or house will eventually take your money. Your not in game if dealer already took your cards. Players always feel dealer has better hand, the house banks on it.

6. I understand you’re saying going from 23% to 38% is obviously a good move, but it does make you double your bet and would this not make your possibility to lose more money bigger? (for example) you will have a 77% chance to lose your 10$, and if you split it you will have a 62% of losing your 20$. Wouldn’t you rather take the 23% and play the next hand with a fair odd?
