It’s time to get a little nerdy! SplitSuit breaks down combos (aka combinatorics) postflop and explains how blockers (everything from the board cards to your hole cards) factor into the whole equation. This is simple to keep track of once you know what to look for, so pay special attention to this one if you are trying to become a more technical #poker player.

I really appreciate your work and your videos. although the topic is not new to me I enjoyed watching it and train to add this to my thinking when the flop hits. it's a bit tougher in HU games vs unkown though.
when you look at the board texture did it become natural for you that the number of possible combos pops up in your head? do you also deduce your chance of winning (in %) in spots from this? what is the next step after I know the amount of possible combos?
I just know that most of your opponents at your local cardroom are NOT soaking up this content. Even casually listening to these videos, you will have an edge on your opponents. I am no savant but I know for a fact that these videos have changed the way I view the game and my game has elevated..
First and foremost, thanks for the great content!
Was in a similar situation recently, was counting the possible hands, turns out the guy open raised and called my 3bet with 9 4 of clubs (i'll use your example). Similar situations happen very often at my stakes. Analyzing the spots give me a sentiment of frustration, as they rarely have what they "should". Bet sizing and betting patterns are the only thing that help me figure out what they have. "I know he's not bluffing in this spot" seems the only thing that I can correctly figure out. I'm turning into a mega nit. Please help.
hi splitsuit..you rock keep up the great material =). for question 4 I can't seem to wrap my head around 15 combos…I see 9combos for the sets, and then 3×3=9 combos for j10 totaling 18, please advise 🙂
Yeah try computinf that bad live.
This is really a fantastic video, The topic needs to be explored more. The learning or your message would accelerate if you had a live example so to speak. Something from a live game such as Live at the Bike ect. You have a skill of explaining complex poker concepts. You do not just talk to hear your voice like the folks at Crush Live Poker. Great job.!
What does 1 combo translate to percentage wise? Ex: When Hero holds J-J, there are 18 combos of pocket pairs that beat him (QQ,KK,AA). What percent of the time is hero beat by someone holding those specific pairs?
Afer the cards are shuffled, the cards in your hand and the cards on the board are really what you know YOU have. Now comes the difficult part, how much do you fear losing? Only in a real MONEY game does the FEAR FACTOR come into effect, because in a FAKE money game, no matter what decision you make, you only risk your pride. Other than a royal flush, no matter what you do, it's guessing game.
i dont understand here when you say they are (3+3+3+3) combos of sets, isnt just 3 combos of sets?, then the question 3 of the quiz says 6*3 so that makes 18 combos of QQ, i really dont understand what is happening here, i mean, you have 6 combos of QQ and 16 of AK, please someone can explain me ?.
Holy
Can someone explain me how to calculate the combos is easy way.. this is insanely hard
