Poker Strategy Info And Source:
Jonathan is joined by Frankie from Next Gen Poker to discuss a hand that he played during a meet up cash game that they had at the Texas Card House in Austin, Texas. It ended up with Frankie having to leave his own meet up game and going to sit by himself at Home Depot where he cried a few (or many) tears.
This poker cash game is $1/$3 with extremely deep stacks as they are over 600 big blinds deep! Frankie started with $500 but after many double board PLO bomb pots he has managed to run up his stack to $2,000 just before this poker hand takes place.
Jonathan discusses what you should consider when playing extremely deep stacked cash games. Suited connectors that will not make nut flushes and therefore they go down in value as you may end up losing a huge pot if you hit a flush. This is especially true if you are playing against tight opponents who will only stack off if they have the nuts.
They talk about how you should often use larger raise sizes when you are deep stacked, especially with strong hands against opponents that do not fold very often. Poker in Texas is known to be rather wild with lots of action and poker players that do not like to fold!
Frankie has a tricky decision on the turn as he faces a raise on the turn. He is holding the third nuts on a very dynamic board as there are now two flush draws. Jonathan suggests that Frankie has more options than to just fold or move all-in. In poker situations like this you must always ask yourself – what does your range look like to your opponent?

What would YOU do on the turn with 9♦ 7♦? 🤔
Your Stack (BB): $1,735
Their Stack (LJ): $1,735
Pot: $361
Board: J♣ T♣ 8♠ K♠
You bet $250, LJ raises to $800
A) Fold
B) Call
C) Raise to $1,735 (all-in)
I would punt it. Charlie taught me a new philosophy that you just have to punt your way through life lol
If I could find a fold here then I could for sure be a pro haha
oof
Pocket Jacks and bottom ends of straights… and maybe lowball flushes. Make so much, but also lose so much. Hard to say if I'm even break even overall on those scenarios.
You are going to make straights sometimes and lose.Did Jon some how know what happened?
He would've had to pay on flop
Cruel beat I’ve had this happened before aswell. Love the 700bb deap those games are where poker is at
So many straights get there.
this happened to me the other day. Was having kind of a badty session…. the day after a badty session. I wasn't getting any hands or playable cards. Finally get 87s which is about as nice as it got that day. Flop came 9TJr. PERFECT right? the guy i was in the hand with was a station on the flop and turn but overfolded the river so I went 1/2 of the flop with the intention of going big on the turn. Well…. turn is the 8…. alright I mean it's 4 to a flush now but this guy could literally have anything. from a set to AKo to 2pair, to even 56o or something. I bet the turn and he raised me and idk. I was tilted tbh and just put it all in. figured i either get stacked here or let him hanghimself. He had AQ. When I have a good week and hands like that happen to me i dont even register them but when I'm already on a downswing they can really tilt me so I logged off for the day
