It sounds simple but playing in position means that you get to act last, with more information, across multiple streets of play.
The way this translates to poker strategy is interesting.
While out of position there will often be times that you’ll want to get it all-in on the flop, whereas in position the same exact poker hand might be more interested in seeing another street and allowing your opponent to keep betting or allowing you to decide what to do after your opponent checks.
When you’re out of position you often want to force more money in with your high equity (strong) hands or good draws for a variety of reasons.
In position you want to play more passively so you can realize your positional advantage across more streets, often waiting for the river to value bet hands that want to get a street of value because the extra information gained is valuable.
If you’re building huge chip stacks already but still looking for how to improve at pot limit omaha, no limit hold ‘em, or poker in general, Phil Galfond is here to teach you how to think like a professional poker player.

Poker is a lot like catching a fish. You can pretend to be one and "flop" around, you can ask a genie to "turn" you into a bear, but the best way is to get to the "river"
Whatever that means
I hate it how what Phil said makes 100% sense, is not complicated, but still didn't cross my mind despite playing for 10+ years.
Wow this actually makes a lot of sense. My thought was that if your out of position you want to play more passively because you have less information to work with and vice versa.
