Poker Strategy Info And Source:
In this hand we call a 3 bet with AK and flop top pair. The turn brings in a lot of draws and our opponent shoves. Can we call it off?

If we think, she probably dont have any bluffs in her 3-betting range, we should just fold AK pre against such a large 3-bet. Even though we might technically be priced in to call based on pure pot odds, we also need to consider the fact, that AK play poorly against a very top heavy range.
We cant continue on flops, where we miss, so often we dont actualize our full equity. And even when we hit, its still not great. We have reverse implied odds on KXX, AQX and possibly AJX, and its difficult to get paid on AXX, if her 3-betting range does not even include hands like AQ.
As played I dont see, how we can fold post. We flopped our pair and even picked up a nut flush draw on the turn, so it does not get much better than that with our hand. Without the nut flush draw the turn would be a clear fold though, and thats kind of why, its better to just get out pre.
Do you think getting AK all in preflop every time is a plus ev play or not? I know this might be a dumb question and I know it depends on the situation but I’m just curious.
“Asking for a friend”
He has way more than 9 or 12 Outs
on the turn nine clubs make a flush three queens make a straight two kings make a boat that's 14 could win with an ace comes to so 16. so you're two to one to make one of those hands and you're getting about two and a quarter to one on the money so call is correct you also can win more some hands on river
villain might have a set, but i think i'm just shoving that flop. i mean if you call, you've got nearly 1/2 your stack in the pot already anyways… as played, i'd have to fold that turn…if she's a tight middle-aged woman she's got a lot of boats and occasionally quads there…surprising she would shove on about the scariest possible turn card for her hand!
Check your numbers, Bart.

And without QQ, we got 33.64%
Most of the time you're crushed, I'd say at least 80% of the time the villain wakes up with a monster and you're going home broke. Fortunately this was not one of those times!
Hero equity goes up on the turn from 28% to 37% Vs AA, KK, QQc, JJ, TT, AK, AQ.
Hero equity goes up on the turn from 41% to 44% Vs AA, KK, QQc, JJ, AK.
Why we call flop and fold turn?
My initial impulse was to fold flop, but call turn (if I had called flop). But after running through poker stove, I think we're getting odds to call both streets against even pretty tight ranges (AA, KK, QQ only w club, AK only suited, and JJ). I'd be surprised to see that 3bet very often preflop with JJ from that player, but I put them in the range just to be extra conservative.
I think above comments about folding preflop are probably correct though.
