Poker Strategy: Making a Small Flush

Poker Strategy Info And Source:

Bart Hanson from Crush Live Poker talks poker strategy when making a small flush.

The caller in this hand makes a very wide open over two people and ends up making the smallest possible flush. His opponent suddenly wakes up with multiple pot size bets from out of position on the turn and river. What’s the best way to play the hand?

  1. I think hero is making the common mistake of opening up his range way too wide against a lag maniac. Isnt the conventional wisdom to tighten ranges and let villain hang himself?

  2. my villain range was narrowed to include the AK clubs on the river or 2 pair. at 1/2, does he call a $50 raise? if so, does villain lead for $120 on the river? i don't think so. hero calling the turn for $50 and allowing villain to lead $120 on river was LIKELY max value for that hand. i raise river, looking for the call on the 2 pair i had villain in range for. that is where u get value at $1/2. Not raising turn.

  3. Can someone please direct me to the 1 2 games with lots of "bad players" where I live I prefer to play 2 5 because there are a lot more loose bad players. All the 1 2 games in my area are very tuff games with 10 or 12 regulars who play everyday and are good thinking players. If someone sits down at the table who is a bad player they will be completely stacked multiple times in a 4 hour period probably down 900 to 1200$ and will probably never come back. As far as this hand pretty simple fold preflop lol, but really I would of raised at least half pot on flop just called turn and river pretty simple hand.

  4. I think the lead on the turn could be a mid card made flush (7d8d, for example) worried about you having a 1 card flush draw.
    wrong, as usual.

  5. that open was too small with such a trashy hand..you do want them to fold, don't you?

  6. learned a lot about the villain for later…pretty fishy. thanks for another nice video Bart! 🙂

  7. So the caller is willing to fold his flush if it was a different opponent. Really?? If so, this guy needs to be an OMC and only play 5% of hands. #fish

  8. Even vs the fish 3 high seems tough I mean if the guy is a weak tight type player who over folds I could maybe see it but if he is getting to showdown with lots of garbage and doesn't like to fold wouldn't we rather try to isolate him with big cards?
