He's . opponent was actually a lot better than he is. Give credit where credit is due
this is spew
First problem is completely discounting any sort of strong value from villain. Villain can have 4x here all day as it's a reasonably draw-y board (not dry as stated in this video). Given that BB is going to want to check raise some % of combo draws 4x is really good to have for balance and it's a hand that can still get action from hands like 87 of spades.
43suited, 54suited, 64 (this one might not x/r), k4 suited, A4, 57, combo draws, etc. all in villains range here on the flop
Second problem is we block some of his bluffs such as 57, 85ss for gutter and backdoors. not good.
This whole hand just sounded like a solution in search of a problem. "I feel, I think, I thought, he doesn't do this, doesn't do that" (and look where that got us, the guy x/r'd quads so clearly our "read" was way off).
Ace river is bad for our range as mentioned in the video.
I think best river line (off the top of my head) is bet 25-30% to specifically target Qhigh and Khigh flushdraws that have you beat like Q9hh, QThh, KQhh, KThh, KQhh etc. That said I think this is probably a fold on the flop.
When do you raise quads, well when op don´t release 8 high. Sometimes you just gonna hafto fold a 3,4 outer when the board is paired, flushdraw is out and you face a checkrais. Keep it simple.
Only way you could call this flop raise was if you bet small (like 1/4 pot) that might induce a spazz raise…but we bet pretty large and still got raised. Just Lay down your 8 high…
Really strange lines from both players.
Hero got super owned my goodness
Very few players have value flop raises that then trap the turn
Hero played his hand bad, especially the flop and river . Villain played it exactly as Pokersnowie would , so i am guessing he's been using it a lot haha
I actually think v is more likely to continue with his missed fds on the turn after he takes a xr line on the flop. With the only exception of JXhh which would be reasonable to check. Like Bart said, with the ace on the river, you are repping overpairs. So you no longer have queens and kings in your range when the ace hits the river. And while you can call xr flop with ak, it’s still in the lose side. So most people would discount AK here as well. You are only left with pocket aces on the river for a a vb of this size. I’d rather go with a small size like if I’m trying to get value from hands worse than queens
Be funny if villain had turned over 53 offsuit at the end.
When hero called the $230 flop raise, villain knew he had him. V acts like he missed the flush draw and said, ✔ 2 u. bet hero. Bam. Same on river. Villain pegged him as lag and trapped him. I'm too weak to make that play. I fold the flop or re-raise the $230 and if called or re-raised, i do not put another $ in pot. Just say nice play and move on to next hand. I have a lot to learn but i learned more from villains play cuz I'd never do that hero play.
