SLOWPLAYING Pocket KINGS vs A LIMPER With Jaman BURTON

Poker Strategy Info And Source:

When you are playing live poker cash games and face a limp (call) from a recreational player they are not usually planning to fold!

Popular poker vlogger Jaman ‘The Drawing Dead’ Burton finds himself exactly in this spot with a premium poker hand – pocket kings! I will discuss the poker strategy that you should look to employ when you face limpers in cash games and whether you should ever choose to slowplay. I also talk about what range of hands tight poker players choose to limp and then 3-bet with!

Slowplaying in poker can have its merits in certain situations but it is important to recognize when and where these situations are!

This hand was played in Las Vegas in the Bellagio Poker room during a poker cash game at $5/$10 stakes. It starts with a player limping and Jaman deciding to raise for value with his pocket kings. Remember that you want to use a slightly larger raise size when you are out of position than if you were in position.

The poker hand then takes a very weird turn as the river completes straight draws and flush draws. Can Jaman get maximum value?

  1. What range of hands do you think a tight player chooses to limp and then 3-bet with?

    A) 88+, AJs+, A5s-A2s, KQs, K8s, Q8s, J9s+, T9s, 98s, AQo+
    B) TT+, AQs+, AKo
    C) AA

  2. This happened to me last week. Guy limps I raise to $15 in 1-2 game. Folds around to him and he raises to $60. I have KQ of clubs and call. I flip the nut straight kj109

  3. I was thinking the range would be closest to B at varying frequencies. I don't think most players will be getting as out of line as the A range and we can't always assume they have Aces.

  4. JJ 20%
    QQ 20%
    AA 20%
    A+ 20%
    Suited connectors 20%
AT or TT makes the straight…
There you go… suited connectors that I figured at 20% hit the straight.

  5. What's the guy thinking who doesn't bet that river… "Better check cause he might have a flush!" … He's super happy to win the hand 😀

  6. AA, AK, KK, QQ. I start folding QQ and AK in these kind of situationa. But KK is just too strong to fold in my opinion.

  7. Great analysis and very applicable to my game.. enjoyed it and learnt a lot… win win..
