Check raising the flop is standard for a stack that small. I could see an argument for a stack over 100bbs but with 80 bbs for a pot sized raise, check raising flop is most definately the best play. Am I crazy?
Alex, you have improved my game, made me lots of money and this video is as properly explained as any. That being said, this fairly basic hand could have been explained in under 10 minutes. Nevertheless, keep up the good work!
I actually dont like the preflop call. The reason is, that while it is likely correct on pure pot odds, hands like suited connectors or suited gappers play best in a deep stack to pot ratio (SPR) situation. Most of the value from these hands come from flopping draws, and when we get ourselfes involved in this completely bloated 2 SPR pot, we just dont have enough room to draw profitably. And even less so when we are out of position against so many other players.
I dont like 3-betting either, because I dont think, it will work quite often enough, and when we get action, we are always behind. So honestly I would just fold this pre and wait for at better spot to get involved. Sure it worked this time, but its very rare to flop 2 pair or better, and the rest of the time Hero just put himself in a lot of not very profitable spots in my opinion.
Alec i actually like leading in this spot. I don't want to be in a position where i have no clue what to do when the next card peels off. We are commited with top 2 anyways and we are playing against 6 other opponents. What if a 10 peels off, a 6 or an 8, a 4 or a 5 or a 3?. So many dangerous cards against 6 opponents. I don't want to fold my hand. I would bet 55$ and get it in.
I don't understand the back and forth at the beginning, 1st thinking of a 3-bet to $60+ and folding to a jam.ย Then you make the case against it because you realized you'd be priced into calling a jam anyway. On flop hero has top 2 pair on a dry board and 1x pot left. This isย jam all day long. What are you talking about with balance in a 1/2 game? You are just making this way too complicated for the stakes and the stack sizes. These players wouldn't know a range from a unicycle. Maybe don't do these things in real-time and put some thought into them beforehand. This was a rambling, confusing over-complicated approach to a simple hand.
Thank you for your time!
Hi Alex! I appreciate all your content!
I do like the videos It also gives us more knowledge. That is the game of poker seeing how people play and think. My goal is never to be a professional player but I also need to know how to play against one!!!
2 SPR with top two so either lead flop into jam turn or x/r jam flop
Thanks for this analysis. Can you also analyse this from the villain perspective, please? How to play AKo against a probable double pair on the board. How to read that? Thanks in advance
