I call a 3-bet with 77 and end up heads-up out of position, that’s about as far as my explanation goes for now… my opponent’s play in this mid stakes no limit hand is kind of confusing!

My opponent’s play was a little confusing in this no limit hold ‘em poker highlight, but being confused doesn’t mean I’m folding!
Does your poker strategy differ in this spot?

My theory? He was playing with a two-color deck and misread his hand, before realizing his mistake
Seems like the type of bet to get someone to fold Ax suited with a small pair after 3 spades come around. Or maybe a blocker to protect from a A3, or A4 suited bluff on the river after a check.
It could be some bizarre balance play if the guy likes down betting the turn a lot to bait check raises but in that scenario it's better to check. Perhaps he wants to see if his pair outs are good vs. a non-flush hand by bet folding to a check raise. Or just an aggro maniac who would rather bet 1/3 the turn than check.
Lol thought process?
AcQc unblocks hh floats and 77-JJ which will be pretty indifferent on the turn without a spade. The sizing makes sense as it encourages interaction between the 1p region of ranges where villain is doing best with AA, AK and KQ but sets up a pot sized river jam at the same time with his nut holdings. It mirrors the cards in heros value range too blocking some combos that hero should choose to call the turn with more often because of their own blocking effects (eg. A6, A2, A5 clubs)
Its a fine hand to give up with on the river as it can show down vs AQ:s or AJ:s
He lost his bottle. One more bet on the river and you'd have folded…
Thought proces is a kneejerk reaction to the flush completed on turn…imho
"i should probably fold turn" "not sure what his thought process is there" okayyyyyy
🐠
“I should probably just fold turn”.
Come on Phil. You answer your own question right there.
His barrel on turn seems fine vd your range, as you should have folded all the middle pairs. Which you concluded in hindsight yourself.
