Please don’t let Phil Galfond’s preferred method of moving up be the only option you try! If you’re taking a shot at higher stakes keep things a lot more measured and conservative than you think you will need to. This goes for No Limit Hold ‘em players as well as Pot Limit Omaha players.
Remember to move back down if you start losing outside of your established shot taking bankroll, do not chase your losses at higher stakes! Plenty of people have lost their bankroll chasing down BERRI SWEET for a HU PLO double up or trying to NLH flip with Tom Dwan.
While some players may get motivated and play better while losing, or while on a short poker bankroll, the majority of poker players will play worse under more stressful conditions.
Establish yourself in the lower stakes and build a sizable bankroll for both shot taking and your regular poker game play, this will allow you to take some of the emotional variance out of the attempts.

Great advice Phil! How many buy ins would you bring when you were taking shots?
Damn, needed to hear this. I only played about 100 hours of 1/3 last year and was doing very well (very small sample but around 22 bb/hour). I moved up to 2/5 recently and have made a little but nothing steady. My mental state from the losses really takes a toll when it comes to playing well in later sessions, I find myself putting in calls I would otherwise think are trivial folds (having correct reads and still putting it in). Definitely think moving back down for a bit will help
whats the recommended amount of buyins in plo?
Okay, love your genius, love your videos–because I love PLO, but what I don't love? LOSE THE BEARD. Goatee and mustache if you MUST have facial hair, but why do you think you need facial hair? You don't. I'm tired of this look.
Wisdom.
Absolutely loveing agree. Lost a lot of money in high stakes games
I watch this as I'm about to go to my 1st wsop. Definitely not within my bankroll this trip. I broke my neck 20 years ago, never been to Vegas and wtf get a bracelet
