With a set of aces on AQ9 (two flush) I recommend leading out for Pot, for several reasons.
1. Any J10xx has 8 outs to leave you a 4:1 dog on the turn. Any small flush draw with nothing else going for it has 7 outs. These hands are either not gonna give you any value or spike their card and crush you, so you want them out of there.
2. If you set over setted someone, you don't want to leave any money on the table.
3. The biggest imaginable draw is a suited 7810J for a 16 card straight draw + flush draw, against which you have 49.88% equity, so you can't be afraid of the draw because you have the leverage against this type of hand in this spot, even out of position. Let me explain this further.
On the flop, if you either pot and get raised OR, check raise (its important that you don't raise pot here) and get re-raised, you can call and still have leverage on your opponent because you can easily jam safe turn cards (at which time you will be a massive favorite against a wrap+flush draw). If the turn comes a scare card, you can just check fold without regrets. Once again, you don't want to check raise big on the flop because you want to leave yourself room to fold.
Very smart opponents in higher stakes might read a small check raise as a "set playing small ball" and play perfectly against your hand, but for the most part your set looks like a draw check raising more so than a made hand (the ONLY upside to check raising as opposed to leading for pot).
