One more #HelloAlec episode for this week. This one is coming from my reader Aron. He played this hand in tournament with Ace Queen suited on the Hijack. He puts all in on the turn… He wants to know what would be the optimal play in this hand? What do you guys think about his poker strategy?

You represented Ax hearts (given you have a lose opening range). I say A4 hearts. Villan put you on that particular hand based on your play. It was a gutsy move on your part to risk your chips right there. You have Aces with a strong kicker plus a nut flush draw at that point, so you were ok (not good, but ok). Villan did the right thing in my opinión in that he avoided getting luck-sacked. You felt you could take it down right there, so i believe it was a good move. Risky, but you can't always wait to have the nuts to put your money in. What i like is that you never relinquished control if the pot since you fired on all streets. You trusted your instict and went with it. Good job.
You are very lucky you somehow accidentally turned your hand into a bluff and got villain to fold a better hand, what hands do you think villain is reraising on the flop to a donk lead and then calling your 3 bet that you are ahead of?
I even think calling a 3 bet out of position with AQs is not great, but as played I would have check called the flop and turn and reevaluated the river.
hmm it was risky. I like the all in at the end because that is the only move you could of done with that draw.
Are there some hands coming where Alec explains the hand? Like the old HOTD series?
My thoughts on how to play it: call on flop was fine, AQs is a good hand especially against agro players.
Check call the flop. No need to reraise. AK is a likely holding for opponent here, and TT is also a possibility. I'd prefer to keep it safe and just call.
Turn: again check call. These hands will definitely continue on the turn, and I think calling is easy given the second heart comes out.
Loved the snapchat analysis Alec! Looking forward to future hello Alecs
I believe villain have AK, u can think Izzit the right play?
I think part of the trouble in evaluating this hand is its a $25 tournament. Is this a lot of money to the players involved? Judging by this hand it seems everyone is just basically throwing chips around in a deep stack tourney. If you play in a legit tourney and do not adjust you will get smashed. Like my old baseball coach use to say if you are serious player do not play wiffle ball on your free time.
I think, you need to give the player on the button a bit more respect here. He 3-bet preflop and then raised on the flop, when another player donked into him. And he did both against two other players. Is this really a spot, where he is bluffing? Or betting for value with a hand worse than AQ? I dont think so. AK should actually be the bottom of his range here. So although it bad and feel weak-tight, the correct play is to fold the flop and let the other two dudes fight it out with each other. At least that would be the case in a more regular game, where players are disciplined and have ranges, which make sence. In a wild local live game like this, where many people presumably just want to gamble, maybe you can call with AQ and hold on for dear life from there. But if you really think, his range include worse hands than yours, then you should just let him barrel along with those rather than taking the initiative away from him and allowing him to get away for cheap.
You can't be tight aggressive with a loose opening range…
