Learn Texas Holdem Video Source & Info:
A Sit and Go is a one-table poker tournament. Sit and Go tournaments usually last about one hour. Some Sit and Gos can be shorter, but it’s more likely they go a little longer.
To play in most live Sit and Go poker tournaments, you go straight to the table and buy-in there. You usually don’t go to the cashier cage like you would for other kinds of poker tournaments.
After you pay your buy-in, the dealer will give you your chips. Everyone receives the same amount of chips. The amount of chips each player receives depends on the buy-in. For instance, you will receive fewer chips in a $125 buy-in than you will in a $250 buy-in.
You should approach Sit and Gos differently than other types of poker tournaments. In the early going, remain patient. Once half the field is gone and the blinds are rapidly increasing, you should be extremely aggressive any time you pick up a quality hand.
Your aggression level should also depend on if you’re the first one to raise or if someone raised before your action. If someone raised before your turn to act, then you need a higher-quality hand to get involved.
Play tight to start, aggressive mid-way, once top three play TAG till heads-up and heads-up play aggressive.
