In this video, you will learn the situations that come up during the pitch and what a poker dealer needs to pay attention to. Below are the situations discussed in the video.

Verify that the correct cards are secured by the correct players and stop the pitch and correct any confusion if that is what it takes.

If your pitch lands short of the player, slide the card the rest of the way to the player.

Avoid helicoptering the cards. Instead, keep your pitch down to help prevent it from being exposed.

Pitch around obstacles instead of over them, especially when dealing around the 1 and the 10 seats.

Never pitch from behind the rail.

When you get a boxed card, a card that was face-up in the deck, call a supervisor.

If a card flashes or exposes during the pitch, it is an exposed card. Leave that card face-up in front of that player, pitch out the rest of the cards, and then switch the exposed card with the burn card. If first card to a blind is exposed, or if two cards are exposed during the pitch, then that is a misdeal. A card off the table during the pitch is also an exposed card.

The poker dealer is the referee of the table. Poker dealers must have high integrity and make sure that what happens at the table is what was supposed to happen at the poker table by enforcing the rules.

  1. In the casinos where I play, for example London, England, a card that leaves the table results in a misdeal and the cards are counted before redealing. It's never treated as an exposed card.

  2. Do u have any suggestions or videos on how to properly pitch when dealing 7 card stud I'm having difficulty with that particular up pitch I would gladly appreciate any help thanks in advance

  3. don't lean over the whole table just to pitch to seat 9…. doesn't look good and slows you down….

  4. Another reason why I, as a player, never look at my cards until all cards are dealt and it's my turn. That way, I won't mind if the deal has to be repeated due to a misdeal, exposed card etc.

I freakin' hate players who whine and bitch about not being able to play their AK because they peeked before a misdeal.

  5. Could you make a video on how to deal with unattentive, stalling or abusive players?

I also would be interested in how you'd handle string-bet or wrong-amount bet scenarios; how to spot a wrong amount, or how to determine whether a move was a string bet or not.

  6. thanks fo rposting im starting to learn some of the card mechanices.i need to get the rules down more.im interested n learning how to work part time at this.as im very tired of my jobi have now.i will be watching all of your videos.i ren my own amusement game for 15 years i can do this poker dealing.as a new career.

  7. It's a courtesy to deal players the cards, but imo the dealer is in charge and if one of the players is making the pitch too difficult, the dealer is allowed to tell them and they should listen to him.
