The reason I fold too much is because I tilt my tits off when I lose big pots, or even just losing a bunch of smaller pots on the spin. I've tried for 10 years to stop myself tilting but nothing seems to work; so, for me at least, folding too much actually improves my WR and I have HUGE samples where I decided to stop folding vs going back to folding that proves this. If you're level headed, and you can handle swings, then I understand that over-folding is bad. But the most important thing for me is to stop myself from tilting. I don't think I've ever once tilted when I've played like a rock; contrast that with tilting really hard almost every session when I've tried to "play."
Im new to poker but my friend who is very good told me " The key to poker is aggression but the secret to poker is folding".
Game dependant. If you're playing poker, you should be constantly observing your opposition. Their ranges and tendencies should become pretty apparent. Lower stakes calling stations usually keep most tables honest. Looser games with lots of multiway action and showdowns, bluffing gonna be pretty costly.
